We always wanted a small wedding, so COVID did not seem like it would be as big of an obstacle for us when we first started planning. We planned to get married in Rocky Mountain National Park with a small group of friends and family, but the permit was cancelled 10 days beforehand due to capacity limits.

I contacted Josie and she suggested we hike up to Dream Lake for a sunrise shoot a few days before the wedding so that we could still get photos in the park. I borrowed a dress from my best friend and Bryan packed an extra suit and we decided to make it work.

On the day of our wedding, we were able to spend more time in the moment with our family and friends who braved the pandemic and traveled from Atlanta to share this time with us. We involved both our families in the backyard ceremony and were able to sneak in some more one-on-one photos before the sunset. Honestly, I would advise everyone to do their wedding photos this way!

There was much less pressure to get the ‘perfect photo’ on our wedding day since we knew that Josie had already captured so many beautiful moments earlier in the week. We are still planning to have a reception at some point but we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful wedding.
