On a Ferris Wheel in Tivoli, Copenhagen. A running joke between us was that on our first date Luke kept mentioning a Ferris Wheel which was at the station in York. However turned out it was no longer there, and I never got my ride…until our holiday! It was really sweet, but I refused to put the ring on until we were on the ground, as being super clumsy it could have ended terribly!!

We didn’t really have a theme or a vision as such. We just wanted something fun and relaxed which was all about the people we loved.

Newburgh Priory in Coxwold. It was such a beautiful place. We loved the fact that you could book it and do whatever you wanted in the hugs grounds. And could see the White Horse at Kilburn which is a special place to us. Paul and team were super helpful and always on hand for any questions.

My dress was by Jesus Piero and found with the help of Elena from Elena Ferrara Bridal. It was so soft and comfy which was really important for me, I wanted to be able to eat and dance and not feel too formal. An added bonus is that it was a bargain as an ex-display dress, and Elena and team did a fab job of altering it to fit perfectly. Luke chose a lovely herringbone blue 3-piece suit from Next and a tie in a floral Liberty print.

We managed to order some of the fabric and my mum made the boys all pocket squares. He got some Loake shoes for the occasion and wore a gold pocket watch which was his wedding gift.

We used the ceremony room at Newburgh Priory which didn’t require any decoration as it was stunning is it was. The sun was shining and it just felt lovely! Our ceremony was a civil ceremony full of lots of smiles, laughter and a toddler tantrum!! My dad recorded a piece of music for me to walk down the aisle to which was such a special touch to the day.

We had Amy Jordison who was fab! Everything was so relaxed and having the photos taken was really fun and natural (we were both a bit nervous!). It’s so nice to look back at them, and we’re excited to get them printed.

We didn’t have a theme, but wanted the day to be full of colour and feel very Summery (thankfully the weather joined in)! The bridesmaids wore mustard yellow and the boys had colourful floral ties on. Flowers were by Rachel from Ducks and Daffodils who provided us some beautiful local summer flowers. The theme we gave her was colourful and wild and she hit that fabulously!!

We even did the table flowers ourselves from some flowers Rachel provided, they came out really well, we were so pleased! Our cakes were giant caterpillars from M&S which Luke’s mum dressed as Bride and Groom. Complete with mini rolls for our bridesmaids and groomsmen, and models of our pet rabbits and Luke’s much-loved bike!

The best few weeks of our lives! We travelled around Bali for 2 weeks, then had a few days in Malaysia on the way home. It was all amazing, so nice to relax after all that wedding planning, and have some time that was just ours!

Our 3-year-old niece was flower girl and was promised a biscuit at the end of the aisle walk. Turned out she was given the ‘wrong’ biscuit which caused a big meltdown. The fact she’s usually the most relaxed child made it extra hilarious. I also managed to start a fire (napkin and candles…) and stack it on the dance floor… We had cardboard cutouts of the Queen and a corgi in honour of the Jubilee!!

Try not to worry too much in the run-up. It is a lot to organise, so take help when offered and try not to get too hung up on little bits which don’t matter. The day is for you, make sure you enjoy it and remember to spend time together!
