Classic Yet Modern Barn Wedding In Grey & Greenery

Steven and I had been together for 10 years when he proposed. We are both from Devon and never met, we then went to the same University and didn’t meet there either. On a random night out in Oceania, Kingston our eyes met across the light-up dance floor and the rest was history. Our special place is Polzeath, a place that brings back memories from our childhood and in October 2019 we went for our 10-year anniversary. It was a rainy cold day and we went for a disastrous WET walk

(I think he planned to do it at the beach but I was very cold and moany!) so we went for lunch in the Oystercatcher. Over a glass of our favourite champagne and a bowl of cheesy chips he got down on one knee and made me the happiest drowned rat!

We wanted to mix our Devon routes with our London lifestyle. I am a very classic cut fan with a love for eucalyptus. Black tie was a must and so was Aperol Spitz! We actually won a competition, and they sponsored our wedding!

My dress was from Pronovias, from The Wedding Shop in Wimbledon. It was number 32 to try on and I had admired it on Instagram for a year but could never find it. I went to The Wedding Shop and it was the last one in stock. Meant to be! I wanted a classic cut but loved the very low neckline and buttons down the bottom (Pippa Middleton bridesmaid dress vibes!).

I treated myself to the Carrie Bradshaw Manolo Blahnik’s in grey to match the greys in our home and the autumnal tones of the wedding – I plan to continue wearing these on our anniversaries – ‘an investment piece’. Steve’s Tux was from Thomas Pink, London – he wanted a velvet jacket and a traditional cut. He had more fittings than I did and probably spent more money on it than my dress.

Due to Corona we were not allowed a band so my bridesmaid pulled together an incredible Spotify playlist, which suited Steve and I very well. First dance – Luther Vandross – Never Too Much (Steve swung me around the dancefloor of Oceana to it on our encounter!) Aisle Song – Ho Hey – The Lumineers
