Beautiful Cream & Blush Barn Wedding With Handmade Touches

The proposal was incredibly romantic and intimate with just the two of us. Josh proposed surrounded by twinkling fairy lights and candles in the living room of our first home, a place where we created so many happy memories together. I am an incredibly difficult person to surprise however I had absolutely no idea that all day Josh had been frantically preparing a gorgeous meal

and decorating the house ready for when I returned home from work. It really was perfect and everything I could have dreamed of.

One word, simplicity. We wanted a wedding day that told our story, that wasn’t overcrowded or over complicated and really just celebrated us as a couple. Every decision we made really orientated around our relationship and our life together which made planning really fun – even in a pandemic!

We loved the cream and blush colour scheme and loosely incorporated this into a casual rustic décor theme to compliment the barns at our venue.

As soon as we viewed Easton Grange we knew it was where we were going to get married, when we entered the ceremony room we both just shared a knowing smile to each other and booked straight away. What we really loved about the venue was how airy and spacious it felt and that even without loads of decorations it still had its own beautiful charm.

The layout and design of the venue worked perfectly with how we wanted our wedding day to flow, we loved all the intricacies of each room. We were able to have a beautiful ceremony in the ceremony barn, share drinks and canapes in the courtyard and then continue the celebrations with our evening reception in the celebration barn. The venue also had the most beautiful accommodation for us (Farmhouse)

and our guests (Bakehouse) which meant people could stay over and enjoy a breakfast with us the following morning. Not only was the venue itself incredible but the surrounding grounds encapsulated the Suffolk countryside that we know and love and also made for some gorgeous pictures.

My wedding dress was from the House of Snow bridal boutique in Bury st Edmunds. The House of Snow team were amazing from finding the dress, the many fittings, to final alterations, they made every step of the way super easy. I visited House of Snow in 2019 with all three of my bridesmaids and my mum and it was just the best day ever. I had so much fun trying on all the different style dresses, it was like a dream come true.

The wedding dress I chose was actually the very last dress I tried on and it was completely the opposite to any wedding dresses I thought I would like. In my mind I was always going to wear a loose ‘bohemian’ style dress, I never envisaged myself in a fitted gown. Before I had even seen myself in the dress I knew it was the one, just standing with it on made me feel so beautiful.

When I came out to show my bridal party it was the first time that they were all speechless and all with tears in their eyes, a moment I will never forget. The dress was designed by Watters Wtoo and it was the Charisma fit and flare gown. I loved how much detail the dress had, every time I looked at it I noticed something completely different. My favourite thing about the dress would have to be the cathedral train, the intricate lace detail and scalloped hemlines were just incredible.

I still feel so privileged to have been able to wear such a beautifully designed dress. The men’s suits were all from COES in Ipswich. COES were incredible at helping arrange suits and made the process super easy. Josh really wanted something simple and understated and so he chose the Kensington grey suit with a white waistcoat, ivory tie and pocket-handkerchief.

The suits were super lightweight which made them incredibly comfortable for a splendid summer wedding. The bridesmaid dresses we all different styles, colours and designs but all ordered from ASOS. It was really important to me that my bridesmaids felt 100% comfortable in their outfits and so the only decision I made was that they would all be wearing a shade of blush and the rest was down to them.

They all looked gorgeous, I loved the dresses they chose and what is more important is that they all felt as beautiful as I did on the day.

I think that everyone will always say that their ceremony was beautiful, but ours really did feel like something out of a movie. I walked down the aisle with my dad to Songbird – Fleet Wood Mac, we loved the instrumental piano introduction and the words to the song are just so gorgeous. I had complete tunnel vision for Josh, no one else in the room existed. After a year of complete uncertainty and pandemonium, it was truly incredible to have been able to say our vows in front of our nearest and dearest.

All week the rain had been pouring (classic British summer!) however on our wedding day the sun was out to stay. Our overriding memory of the ceremony was the sun glistening through the windows into the barn and sparkling over the whole ceremony. I think we both underestimated quite how nervous we would be but as soon as we were stood together at the alter all those nerves seemed to instantly evaporate into the sunshine.

Our exit music was Stevie Wonder – Signed, Sealed, Delivered. We both love the song and thought it was really fitting for the occasion and made all of our guests smile.

Flowers – for the bridal bouquet, buttonholes and ceremony arrangements we used Triangle Nurseries who are a Martlesham based florist and wholesaler. The reason we loved Triangle Nurseries was that they enabled us to use them as a florist but also purchase cut flowers through their wholesale to use for our own arrangements and DIY needs.

I absolutely adored my bouquet, it was filled with peonies, roses, lisianthus and eucalyptus (all of my favourite flowers!) I wanted a natural bouquet that would compliment the blush detailing in my dress, and it was perfection – everything I imagined and more. The men’s buttonholes were simply Gysophilia wrapped in twine and they looked amazing against their grey suits, simple yet so effective.

Cake – Fiona Murphy at MooMoo Cakes created the most beautiful semi-naked cake. The bottom tier was raspberry jam and prosecco sponge, the top layer was strawberry jam and vanilla sponge. The cake looked incredible and believe us when we say it tasted out of this world. Fiona even decorated the cake with flowers in keeping with the rest of the wedding decorations, she was truly a diamond and we felt incredibly grateful to have met and worked with her.

Keeping with our vision of simplicity and ensuring our wedding day truly portrayed us as a couple lots of the wedding decorations were handmade by my mum and me. We both love crafting and so anything that we could do ourselves we did. Table decorations – my mum (Wendy) and I painted all different kinds of jam jars, wine and gin bottles to decoratively hold flowers.

We really wanted a rustic casual feel for the table settings and so we filled the jars full of peonies, gypsophila, eucalyptus and roses. The jars sat on a round piece of oak which we decorated with sparkly fairy lights, candles and iridescent confetti. Part of our morning preparations was cutting the flowers and scattering them pretty much anywhere and everywhere throughout the venue.

I remember walking around before having my make-up done and the smell of eucalyptus just filled the entire barn, it was heavenly. Everywhere you looked there were jars of flowers and it was so lovely to know my mum and I made those. Favours – my mum (Wendy) handmade Biscoff fudge which really was the most heavenly fudge you will ever taste. We cut and placed the fudge into little jars for each of the guests and everyone loved them. The perfect sweet treat.

Place settings – my mum hand crotched hearts which we attached tags to each inscribed with a guest’s name. They laid beautifully on each of the plates and acted as the loveliest handmade keepsakes from our wedding. It was one of our favourite little personal touches to the wedding.

Our honeymoon plans were altered slightly because of Covid but that did not stop us having the best few days away in the UK. We originally planned a trip to Korfu for two weeks, Covid had other plans and so we have rescheduled this trip for our first year wedding anniversary in 2022. Instead, we planned a mini-moon at the Fish Hotel and we ate, drank and laughed our way around the glorious Cotswolds for the most blissful few nights away as newlyweds.

Jess: Making eye contact and seeing the emotion on Josh’s face as I walk down the aisle. I have never felt happiness like I did at that moment. Walking into our wedding breakfast to Luther Van Dros – Never Too Much as Mr and Mrs Pawlowski. All of our guests clapped and we danced our way through the tables to our seats, it was a perfect unplanned moment that we just loved.
